All documents are automatically backed up once connected to Wi-Fi and are accessible in Freewrite’s web application, Postbox. Documents can also be synced to Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Evernote.

I don’t know why, but it works

For months now I was troubled to start writing the book I want to write for years now. Since day with the freewrite - I write. Every day. I don’t know why it makes writing so much easier, but it does, for me at least. Maybe it is the directness, or the fact that you can only read the 10 lines before (when you don’t want to scroll back, which is always too slow on eink devices), so you can and have to write always forward. It works. Plain and simple.

Yes. Even with Version 2.0.3 there are some bugs. Small things, little errors when it comes to screen refreshing (something which should be done maybe every 5 lines automatically), or I needed to restart the device ones because it stopped syncing. But apart from those little quirks, it runs smoothly and - I don’t know, if I said it before: it works!

Can I change the physical keycaps on Smart typewriter?

Can I move documents to my computer without the cloud?

Yes, absolutely and you can use Smart Typewriter entirely offline, if you'd like.

Connect your Smart Typewriter to your computer via the included USB-C. cable. When you do this, your Freewrite will appear as a USB Mass Storage Device, and you'll be able to move your drafts to your computer as you would with any other flash drive.

If I already have a Traveler, should I get a Smart Typewriter?

Both the Traveler and the Smart Typewriter offer distraction-free writing, but cater to different needs: the Traveler is ideal for on-the-go writing with its compact design, while the Smart Typewriter provides a tactile, traditional typing experience perfect for more stationary settings.

When did Smart Typewriter receive PBT keycaps and the all-metal handle?

New Smart Typewriters sold after July 23, 2024, have PBT keycaps and all-metal aluminum handles. These updates represent a product running change and, as such, are not differentiated by SKU, UPC, or generation number. Unfortunately, we are unable to sell the PBT keycaps separately.
