I love the retro vibe!

Valentine arrived and I love it. It’s everything I expected.

Love for my Valentine

I collect typewriters and one of my favorites, aesthetically, is the Olivetti Valentine. When I saw Freewrite was making on ode to it, I knew I’d end up picking it up and I’m glad I did. I’ve had a Freewrite and this one functions just the same but with a better color scheme, at least to someone who likes bolder colors, and a more pleasing font. But I feel like the biggest evolution here is the case. I have the cache case they used to sale but it always felt unwieldy to carry what amounts to a brief case in modern times but the Valentine case solves that. The case feels much better to take around if you want to write away from your home desk, the strap is wide enough the weight is evenly disbursed so there’s not pressure point or shoulder fatigue and it holds the Freewrite so snugly you don’t need to worry about it banging around you move.

True Love

I wanted this typewriter for two years. I've been typing all of my life - I don't write first drafts on computers or with pen and paper - I use a typewriter. I have amassed piles of paper which I have to go through afterward and literally cut up and paste. So when I saw this typewriter, it solved this dilemma of 'all the paper.' And it is everything I have dreamed of. I just love it!

Awesome

First of all, the costumer service is amazing, fast and helpful! Secondly: I already had the alpha freewrite and couldnt believe that it could THAT much better with the freewriter 3rd gen!! I can type in my languages Korean, English and german, switch any time between languages, it syncs great, the feeling of the device is just a dream and its such a joy to write on it, hear it etc!!! I absolutely love it, really! Worth the wait of shipping

The “Valentine” to love forever….

I am a writer and I really wanted to know how well the “Valentine” would work toward my not being interrupted etc. while I’m writing.
Well, I absolutely love my “Valentine”….never to part.
It has a very comfortable feel to it and sends work off very quickly which truly impressed me. I would recommend it to anyone who seriously wants to work uninterrupted.

Typing into Tranquility

I thought I was buying a writing tool. Turns out, I bought a time machine for my creativity.

The Freewrite Ernest Hemingway Edition has been so much more than I expected. It’s like a modern love letter to the old typewriter — beautiful, sturdy, and unapologetically focused on one thing: writing. No apps. No tabs. No pings. Just me, the keys, and the story in my head.

From the very first click of the mechanical keys, I was hooked. There’s something oddly calming about the feel and sound of them — almost like they whisper, “keep going.” And I do. In less than four weeks, I’ve written over 22,000 words, and I haven’t missed a single day. That’s more than I’ve written in years combined.

The build is rock solid yet portable enough to follow me from room to room. It stays perfectly in place while I type, but never feels like a burden to carry. And the e-ink display? Crisp, easy on the eyes, and perfectly suited for long stretches of writing without fatigue.

With my Freewrite, I don’t just write — I disappear into the page. The distractions fall away, and the words come easier, faster, freer. It’s not just a device; it’s a catalyst of creativity.

If you’ve ever dreamed of writing but couldn’t seem to focus, this is your permission slip. Sit down, start typing, and retreat into the magic of the Freewrite.

Soooooo worth the wait

I was on the early wait list for a "Valentine" for quite a while. I'd been wanting a Smart Typewriter, but unsure which to choose (ie. Hemingwrite or Standard or a special run). I went back to the website time and time again, about to pull the trigger - then Valentine showed up as a pre-order. It was meant to be! Now that I have it, I can honestly say it was worth the wait :)

I haven't seen it yet

I bought this freewrite as a gift for my fiancee's birthday in October and I don't trust myself to keep it a secret. I've tucked it away in the same box it came in somewhere in the basement until her birthday and it will not see the light of day until then. But i trust that it's as good as I've seen.

Amazing device

I’m so in love with this product. It has done everything I hoped it would for my writing. The only reason it’s a 4 star instead of 5 is because my e-ink display has a couple spots where it doesn’t work. But it’s a very minor issue—only bothers me because I love the thing so much and spent so much on it that I hoped it wouldn’t have any issues.

I was skeptical

I was skeptical at first, I kept saying the same thing you, reading this review, are saying. "I can get a laptop for that price!" This isn't a laptop, it is a specialized tool for writing, and specialized tools can be expensive, but they're better for the task they're built for. This device is worth it, easily. It facilitates writing in ways a laptop just doesn't. If you're considering buying a writing tool, a laptop isn't a writing tool. This is.

A great investment!

Amazing little device!

So I am consistently inconsistent when it comes to sitting down to write--I'm easily distracted, and once distracted, it's difficult to refocus. The Alpha makes it so difficult to get distracted in the first place, because there's nothing to do with it except write. I took it with me to the coffee shop while I waited for the dogs to get done at the groomer. I was there for three hours, and wrote almost 5,000 words in that time. I'm blown away! I haven't had wordcounts like that since I was in college!

I’d been looking for a tool that would help me focus and write my novel uninhibited. The Freewrite Valentine cuts the distractions and makes typing stories such a delight! With my Valentine, I wrote 25K+ words my first eight days. That’s a lot, especially considering (1) I’m typically a slow writer, and (2) I work full-time, do chores at home, have other activities and commitments, etc.

The Valentine is beautiful. The carrying case makes it comfortable to carry around town, and the solid battery life allows for long, cozy writing sessions. I know some writers may be hesitant to invest this much in their writing (especially if it’s their hobby rather than their career), and I was in the same boat, too. But the way I see it, having a tool that can get me excited about writing every day and help me develop the discipline I need to actually complete my stories is well worth it. Not to mention - I love what I’ve written so far, and I’m so excited for my writing/story world long-term!

Just what I needed!

I was incredibly excited to get my Freewrite and it's been even more helpful than I hoped! I chose the Traveler because I like to write in many locations and like the angle of the screen. The Traveler loses, so the keys are protected when I'm on the go, and it's incredibly light-weight.

In the two weeks I've had the traveler, I have been able to draft 3 chapters of my book. Like many of us, I fall into the trap of over-editing. I could spend ages refining a few sentences. Those sentences were lovely, but I struggled to maintain the thread of my story. The Freewrite's delete button has a slight delay. The delay grated on me for a couple hours, but I've grown to love how it prevents me from fussing around with formatting and spelling. The 3-document limit is perfect. It's enough to have two chapters in progress and a doument for journaling notes and ideas.

The Traveler's comfortable screen angle, responsive keys, and extreme light weight are excellent for me ergonomically. I'm disabled - I have chronic pain and injuries in my joints. The Freewrite is small and lightweight enough that I am able to use when I'm having a pain episode.

Uploading writing from my Freewrite to my computer is quick and straightforward. I love the option to add on to previously synched documents.

Anyway - I can't say enough! My Traveler is helping me bring my story to life. Thank you!

Brilliant Device

I'm so glad I made the decision to buy this brilliant device. I've written all my life consistently and purely for pleasure, and was looking for something alternative. I tried hand-writing but my typing keeps up with my brain much better than my hand! I found that my writing mojo was being sucked out of me more and more thanks to the internet! It's interface is easy to use, the keyboard is pleasurable to type on, it's lightweight and I really love the E-ink screen! (My eyes are better for it) I love that you can sync up with the internet so your work is always saved and that its an easy process. Without distraction, I really feel like my mind has opened when I write my stories. Thank you so much, worth every penny. (Also the delivery was super quick!)

I love it - I’m writing so much more!

I learned about this item a long time ago. I didn’t pull the trigger right away because I didn’t know if I could justify it thinking, “I can always use my laptop”. But in the short amount of time that I’ve had the alpha, I’ve actually written more than I wrote last year! It encourages me to write by making all of my drafts accessible. I love that I can take this anywhere, just hit one button and start writing.

Helped so much

The traveler has been such a big help in getting my ideas written. It’s easy to pick up and put down and it keeps me from getting distracted as easy. I love it so far and have no issues.

Simple writing tool

From my first few days of use as expected it is simple "awesome" writing tool for my free writing...

My new best friend

We go places, I tell it things, it keeps my secrets. I cut back my phone time, and have a reason to enjoy the summer evenings outside. It is simple and easy to use.

I’ve written 1,500 words in two days since getting it!

Which, let’s just say, was WAY more than I wrote in the two days before my FreeWrite arrived! As a chronic nit-picker/over-editor, the experience has been really great.

Loving it so far

I’m just a week in but I’m loving it so far. The click of the keys and the distraction-free writing is great. I love that I have three different folders to organize in.

The Traveler!

I love my traveler! It’s light and compact to take around! Also, fantastic for an adhd type brain to have no distractions AND helpful for my vestibular disorder, as computer screens can be tough on symptoms! Go go gadget Traveler!
