It’s a great standalone word processor and is very portable and has a great feel to it. I like how the WiFi syncs immediately so I can share drafts with my test audience. The only cons are the slow screen rate when I type. It takes longer than expected for the letters to show up when typed than a normal computer. Also the ease at which you can delete a paragraph is too easy and I have found I have to rewrite a few times due to accidental deletion. I also wish it had a simple autocorrect just so I didn’t have to stop and fix simple typing errors. Overall a great product and I look forward to writing a few books on it!
I have been struggling over the last few months with difficulty concentrating on my phone being my worst enemy, few days I have been able to get to 10,000 words advance my stories, but also utilize every single second that I have available as busy parent to carve out time for my passion. I really recommended it knowing it makes writing accessible.
My one piece of feedback is regarding the space bar. Which feels different than the rest of the keys. It does not sink as deep, it does not click. Neither are deal breakers, more like wish list for next go-round.

It’s perfect!! Even better than I could’ve expected honestly. I’m totally in love with everything about it and the Team was incredibly helpful in choosing the perfect model for me and the extra cord was a wise choice as well. Truly worth EVERY PENNY!! I will be recommending this device to anyone looking to purchase a new pc because writing on this Traveler is sooo much better than doomscrolling the internet looking for inner inspiration :3
I’ve had the Smart Typewriter for just over 10 days, and it has exceeded my expectations! It eliminates all the distractions of a computer and allows me to focus on one thing: writing.
I’m still getting used to resisting the urge to edit as I go and simply letting the words flow, but I’m getting there!
My only disappointment is that the replacement black keys and briefcase-style carrying bag aren’t currently available. Otherwise, I’m extremely pleased with my purchase!
I’m actually writing and not writing/lost on the internet. I’m 71 years old, not a computer genius, and I could set up the Postbox account and figured out how to use it, There are a huge variety of tutorials and since I have two monitors, I put the tutorial on one screen and Postbox account (which is necessary in order to organize and edit documents) on the other monitor. The actual product is SO FUN! Writing on the porch, the car, in bed, and on the sofa.
Really worth every penny.
Like I said, it’s a beautiful typewriter and it works as advertised. The clacking is just sturdy enough without being too loud.
Fits the typewriter alright. The magnetic buttons don't really line up correctly, but they do connect to close the case. Otherwise, the case is of good quality.
You wouldn’t think a small-screen device would be a great experience, but my Traveler is actually a genuine pleasure to use. The keyboard is smooth. The screen is clear and simple. The whole process zones you in a matter of minutes. I’d been skeptical, but not anymore. I suspect I’ll get a full typewriter before long.

This has been awesome. I've written almost every day since receiving it, and I love the freedom from distraction. It is easy, the keys are nice, and it fits in my bag perfectly.
The device is hard to get a handle of - with it's various short cut keys to do basic things required to handle aspects like re-connecting to new wifi network. I guess if you use it daily, you can figure it out but for occasional use it's not worth it.
Perfect fit. Would be cool if a pocket for usb cable but not counting against the design.
The shipping was fairly fast, and I’ve been using the Freewrite without any major issues so far. However, when I opened the package, a few of the keyboard keycaps had come off, possibly due to impact during shipping. I hope a little more care can be taken with the packaging in the future.
I highly recommend buying this, especially if you're a migraine sufferer like me. It's fairly easy to operate. The instructions that come with it are concise and easy to understand. Also, due to the new software, there is no lag between when I type and it appearing on the screen. Furthermore, I was able to connect Postbox to my Microsoft OneDrive, and as a result, my work is already waiting for me the next time I open my laptop! 10/10 highly recommend :)
Perfect set up for travelling to anywhere. I wanted the freedom to write and work on my pieces at a moments inspiration. Picked up a near perfect setup. A Sling plus for my tablet to edit on the go. An Alpha, now with a sleeve for protection to write on the go. My journal and pens. The Alpha sleeve is another tool of the traveller's trade. Thanks, Ken S.
The title may make the 5-star rating appear counterintuitive, but it really isn't.
As an overall word processor for all your writing feature needs... DO NOT get this. You will absolutely be frustrated with the device and more than likely you'll consider returning it.
But as a draft tool... this device is amazing. The whole point of a first draft is to just get your story/thoughts/ideas down with no additional editing. Because your first draft is going to be crap, no matter how perfect you think you write it.
That's why this device exists--to get you to understand that philosophy. Freewrite devices are intentionally designed to make editing a pain; to force you to just keep writing and forget about any additional changes you might want to consider. Save those desires for future drafts and edits on other editing software. By that point, you'll already reach the satisfaction of having written something you can call your own.
The modern typewriter design feels astoundingly superb, but the e-ink screen is what makes this device what it is: Words. Just words. Nothing else. And that's perfect. No distractions, no fancy additions to play with. Just your brain and the words that come from them. And become amazed at seeing your wordcount explode.
THAT'S why the Freewrite Smart Typewriter is an easy 5/5.
