I had a Traveler a few years ago and loved the form factor on it despite no backlight (not a dealbreaker for me). The one thing I couldn’t get past was the lag. So I bought the Alpha and sold the Traveler. Even though there wasn’t the lag, I missed the larger screen and form factor. So when I saw the software refresh with no lag I sold the Alpha and bought another Traveler. It’s been a great experience writing again with virtually no lag on the screen. I feel like the update makes this a complete writing partner.
I wish I had this when I wrote my first book . It has been so helpful in my drafting of my other books that are in the works . The Freewrite helps you focus and concentrate on the writing task , without any distractions. Amazing !
I have loved using the Alpha ever since I got it. I use it for journaling mostly from time to time. Not really a fiction writer myself.
The build quality is solid and I love the keys. They are CLICKY! Somewhat addictive, even.
Two notes: The display is a little bit small -- I've increased the font but it's not great. For their most affordable option -- it does the job.
It is also a bit pricy -- I bought it on Black Friday and that's how I was able to afford it. I really hope free write would consider lowering the price at several other points in the year. I sat on this purchase for years before I pulled the trigger. Perhaps that's there strategy. Not sure.
Either way, they make solid products, have great customer support, and I hope they continue making these nifty keyboards. Great work!

The Freewrite Traveler does exactly what they say it will do! I am completely enamored with this product and only wish I had purchased one much sooner! It's the real deal for writers - JUST GET IT OUT - Freewrite is for you!
Before I got my smart typewriter I never finished any projects and would always have strong starts that just fizzled out. In the 2 months I've had my Smart Typewriter I've written more than I ever have in my life and even submitted a few drafts for consideration! Thanks!!
Not much to say other than it perfectly does the job it's designed to do. Hopeful for the release of sleeves with more personality/colors in the future.
I love everything about my Freewrite. It's made me infinitely more productive, which was the idea! It just makes me happy whenever I get to type with it. The keys make a very satisfying clicking sound. The keyboard size is perfect. The screen was smaller than I expected, but the font size is able to be adjusted, and I got used to it very quickly. I can see the appeal of a small screen because it's meant to write first drafts anyway, not to do elaborate edits. Anyway, it's also super lightweight and portable, and in the two months or so that I've had it, despite using it nearly every day, I've only had to fully charge it once. Definitely recommend!!

La Freewrite me ha permitido sentarme a escribir varias cosas que tenía pendientes. También me ha permitido concentrarme para poder aterrizar diferentes historias o cosas de mi trabajo. Los botones son suaves y la experiencia de escribir sin presiones y sin la distracción de editar es excelente. Además adaptar el teclado al español fue muy sencillo. Me encanta mi Freewrite!!
Pretty awesome tool. Reminds me of the old school typewriters i learned to type on. The lag from stroke to screen isn't bad either. Easy on the eyes.
Was supposed to get this free with my purchase but since it was out of stock I ended up with a set of writing prompt cards instead and had to purchase this at full price. It's sort of ugly and doesn't fully snap but I needed it to protect the unit so I guess it is what it is

Yes, it's expensive. Don't regret it for a second. Writing on the Traveler is like a dream. I've tried a lot of different devices for undisturbed writing but this one is the best. Highly recommend it if you have the money.

The Alpha was my first Freewrite. My cheaper test drive with the Freewrite devices. I quickly fell in love. I had no idea how Free my weiting would be until i removed all the distractions. And Wow!! I soon bought the hemingwrite, and Traveler, and now I’m waiting for the Cosmic. So I can try it and share them with ithwrs
I got this as a valentines gift for my partner, she’s a writer, and she loves to draft on a keyboard; but doing that on a laptop was often distracting and she didn’t like needing to always take her entire laptop just for writing. The Traveler is the perfect size for taking it out with you and typing feels significant, weighty. Its features are intuitive and it is very simple and elegant to work with.
I reached out to them via email when we began having an issue with a squeaky shift key and they responded quickly, offering to replace the switch as well as the keycap at no charge even for shipping. I can confidently recommend the Traveller, both as a product and for the customer service you’ll receive should you need it.
Absolutely in love. Again. Life took me in other directions and my Freewrite collected dust and somehow the screen broke. I sent it back in for a speedy repair and I'm back to thoughts flowing across the keyboard again. It came back with the new software and it is like I have obtained a wholly new object.
It's perfect. An invaluable tool for writers. I work from my computer, and staring at a screen all day can be incredibly taxing on my eyes. The traveler allows me to step away from harsh light and still do what I care about most: writing. They market it as a tool to escape distractions, I agree, yet it's so much more. It brings writing to a new level of analog enjoyment. Very grateful.
And shoutout to the marketing team, I've never gotten sucked into ads before. And I never felt the need to purchase any advertised product until I came across the Freewrite Traveler.

(Only suggestion: I personally don't see a use-case for the subscription. I think it'd be super dope if a future firmware update for subscribers includes templates. A screenplay template similar to Final Draft would be incredible. I'd become a subscriber instantly.)
The sleeve looks great, is well made, and seems like it will do the job. There is a bit of a problem with the fit however, the magnetic snap on one side is a bit off which makes it hard to close since the whole thing is a tight fit. It feels like with wear the sleeve should loosen up a bit, it would be great if it fit now.
The Traveler is very cool but its build quality is quite poor for the price. In hindsight I would have chosen something else for the money.
