The Freewrite Alpha set me free.

I love this gadget. It is so simple. A keyboard that sends your words into the cloud. As a child I used to journal and write and attend All the young writers conferences. As I got older I became blocked. This little device has allowed me to find the freedom to write again. I can't express how much I love it. I use it everyday. I have had the thing for about 2 weeks and have written about a thousand words a day easily, not counting three scripts, and five full outline drafts. It is kind of been a magic device for me. It is so simple and easy to use. It looks cool. It feels cool. It works great. Thank you Astrohaus for a fantastic product.

Gets me excited to write!

I love writing regardless of tool, but this device has rekindled my overwhelming NEED to write. I absolutely love using this smart typewriter, and so every day I look forward to the process with newfound energy.

Easy Set Up

This was a birthday gift for my mother and the setup was easy! She's excited to get back to writing!

Great Machine

Craftsmanship is very nice. Attaché is crisp, keys are clicking well, only thing is space bar “sticks” but it works if you press it. Good purchase and fun to use. Excited to write again.

a famous author

I haven’t had this device long but so far it has exceeded my expectations. I am enjoying the physicality of using the keyboard which I’m finding more satisfying than my familiar computer keyboard. So far I haven’t encountered any glitches and everything has worked flawlessly. I don’t expect it to make me a famous author but for my modest uses I expect to have plenty of fun using it.

Writing on the fly couldn't be easier

I own the Freewrite original typewriter and the Traveler. Love them both, especially the Traveler. So I wasn't sure about purchasing the Alpha, I thought it might be a lot like the Traveler. But no, it's very different and has found its place in my writing routine. The LCD screen with backlight mean the device can be used in dim light (I sometimes write late in the evening sitting in bed). Very handy. The device feels very light and is instantly on, no loading time. I do love the e-ink devices but this one is a great addition to the Freewrite range. I find it ultra portable and ideal for writing sessions away from home. It fits in my smallest backpack, is very ergonomic and barely needs charging as the battery lasts forever. It's now my favourite to take to the local library and on day trips for writing workshops and such.

I absolutely love my traveler!

It has been so helpful to have a tool like this to write without distraction or interruption. The keyboard is smooth functioning and everyone is always asking about it. Thanks for making such a great product!

A heavy pin, looks great on my Alpha case. A solid reminder of my first 100k.

Career changing tool

I rarely have been so motivated to write something about a product as I am with the Freewrite signature edition. Since purchasing this in May, I have finished a book of poetry about post-war reintegration and healing after combat-disabling injuries. I am 20k words into my first novel, drafted entirely on the Hemingwrite. It's centered around Hemingway's lasting legend. I have been drafting since May 10th and I'm at Chapter 7. I can't wait to get this to an agent. The Freewrite has been instrumental to my ability to get 3k words a day. Truly, I am grateful. Respectfully, H.D. Frost

Lives up to the name

My productivity has increased leaps and bounds. Portability is key. And to all the other chickenscratchers out there—when you can look back at an unexpected and lovely moment of inspiration and actually READ what you wrote, well…that makes a difference.

Love it

I lost track of time, my story just free flowed for 3 hours before I took a break. That hasn't been the case in years. I love this product and freedom it has given me.

Happy Valentine!

Being an owner of the Olivetti Valentine typewriter since many years, I just had to have the Freewrite Valentine. I have come to really appreciate the Freewrite distraction-free philosophy and process of drafting first and editing later. This machine, as are all the Freewrite’s, is the perfect modern typewriter. I am perfectly happy with mine!

Love the sleeve, but to set expectations for potential buyers please know this is to keep it neat and clean on your desk or if you plan to travel with your typewriter, this needs to go into another protective bag like you would any laptop.

It's honestly been a blessing to have. I've been limited due to chronic pain and illness from being able to write for long or stare are a computer screen for long either. This truly met all my needs, lighter than a tablet of laptop of equal size, easy on the eyes and truly being able to sit and type with a reliable tool that doesn't require any kind of specialized maintenance, and distraction free. Thank you for this, truly

I use it every day

Honestly, this is slowly replacing my regular FreeWrite, which was way too big to lug around.

The keys on this one feel amazing and the e-ink screen doesn't lag at all.

Traveler: discret and efficient device

I write with a Smart and a Traveler. They are very different, but very complementary. I appreciate each of them for their respective missions. The Smart, present and solid to my main writing desk and the Traveler, light and discreet when I'm on the go. A dream kit !

Worth it

Was it skeptical, but it’s the best money I’ve spent in a while. I’ve had it for less than 2 weeks and already wrote over 5000 words on this thing. It’s cute, lightweight and perfect to take anywhere. Haven’t had to charge it yet except right out of the box. There’s a bit of a lag from the button to text displaying on screen but it’s not a big issue for me, I actually find it (along with the small display) prevents me from re-reading what I just wrote, thereby keeping me focused and writing. Love the word counter too. I’m feeling motivated and grateful that this product exists. Glad I took a chance because I’m not gonna lie, I thought I was crazy for dropping $550+ on this thing when I already have my laptop and pen&paper, but I’m hooked. I’m having so much fun writing!! I really believe this is gonna help me finish my novel draft.

Small and Simple, but a Game Changer

I've owned my Freewrite for a little over a week now, and I have never been more motivated to write. At first, I was dubious of the purchase, and hummed and hawed for months before springing for a Traveller during the Warehouse Sale. On the surface, it can seem frivolous - but if your writing matters and you want it distraction free, this is an invaluable tool. It's straightforward tp use and very portable - so there's no excuse not to write. Having the luxury of being able to now set aside my laptop for my day job and all the distractions that come with it - I can now pick up my Traveller without wandering on tabs or getting caught in the spiral of my inbox mid-write. The freewriting process is also changed how I approach my stories (even if it was jarring change at first). Now, I am consistently pushing ahead in my story without self editing or worrying about revising something umpteen times instead of making progress. Overall, yes it is an expense - but this little device has already paid for itself in terms of re-invigorating my passion for writing.

Motivation in a small aluminium case

I absolutely love my Smart Typewriter (Gen3). I already owned the Traveler but felt like I needed it's big brother as an addition.
After some hiccups with Postbox and there being two devices now (which was solved in record time thanks to the Support Team), all is running smoothly now.

I got it in the Warehouse Sale in "good" condition but to me it looks brand new and in pristine condition. I could not be happier!

My only issue would be that I would have loved to purchase an Attaché Case as well. But they vanished, sadly.
