Pleased With My Wife And The Freewrite Sleeve

Let’s be honest. The Freewrite Super is a rather idiosyncratic device. Does it meet a felt need for the vast majority of the public? No, it does not. Yet the same could be said about my wife. Yet I love her because she’s just the right kind of unique. Freewrite makes that sort of unique stuff, for people like me… people who get it. The felt sleeve falls right into a curious, and ever so glorious, tradition. Would HP make something like this? Not in a million years. Yet somehow for the Freewrite, it’s perfect. Just like my wife is perfect.

However, I’ve been disappointed with everything related to my Hemingwrite so far, and this cover is consistent with those experiences.

I ended up using a razor to cut a hole in this felt cover so I could use the handle and actually hold the device. I chose the wrong tools for me.

The sleeve - great for end-of-day cover, not for portability and protection

I got my sleeve, and I enjoy the design and material. I use it mainly for storing over the weekend in the office or at home. However, the sleeve is not great for portability and protection. I am able to walk to and from my office and cannot always bring my typewriter back and forth. This is because the sleeve doesn't offer much protection for my Smart Typewriter, and it also has no handle to carry with the sleeve on. I am hoping that Freewrite release a typewriter case that protects the typewriter and is more portable-friendly, especially for the most expensive product that has a limited warranty (barring extended warranty purchase).
