My brand new Freewrite Traveler arrived on Wednesday, and I couldn't be happier!! It was easy to set up and get to know. The E Ink screen is so easy on the eyes. The status screen is also easy to use and I love seeing my word count instantly as I type. And speaking of typing, the keys are a joy to use. Despite the price, I'm glad I bought the Freewrite Traveler. It was "Love at first write "
I absolutely adore my Traveler. I am a fantasy author and had found myself in a serious dip in creativity after my son was born. As I’m currently working on the second book in my trilogy, I needed to get my creativity going again. I invested in this after trying a much older word processor and discovering the effectiveness of distraction free writing. It honestly can’t be understated how well this works. I began immediately writing far more than I had in the months (if not years) prior to having it. My productivity is through the roof. I hadn’t realised how badly the distractions on my laptop impacted on my ability to write. I think every writer should get themselves one of these if they have the means. They really work.
I write lyric poetry almost exclusively. I had been looking for a writing tool that would better facilitate the spontaneity of my style. A laptop didn't cut it because of all of the extraneous features incorporated into a typical laptop. A vintage manual typewriter costing $1,000 did not cut it either. I don't have the strength & consistency of action in my hands to produce a decently readable rough draft. I am keeping that typewriter anyway. I can use it for something else that only requires occasional use. Oh yeah, and a later model electric typewriter didn't cut it either. A 2022 vintage Royal Scriptor for just over $200 turned out to be pretty much useless because of the variability of the delay involved between pressing the key & the print wheel rotating into position to put the character on the page. This kind of typewriter absolutely annihilates rapid spontaneous poetic composition. And a vintage IBM Selectric is probably 2-3 times more expensive. Plus, in both typewriter cases, there remains the question, how do I easily get the rough draft into my laptop computer as a .pdf file for submission to the Electronic Copyright Office & KDP Publishing at Amazon? There is no easy way. Other than manually transcribing it, that means, by hand, one word at a time.
And then, I looked into your Freewrite Traveler option & there it was!
Easy rapid, spontaneous composition. Check.
Writing instrument Portabilty. Check.
Real time document protection, two copies, one local & the other in the Cloud. Check.
Document portability, meaning, it can generate a .pdf file. Check.
The Traveler has greatly amplified my sheer output, plus, it gives me that "composition in the Crucible (in secret, not on Facebook)" which leads to better quality writing. I can tell the quality & consistency of my writing have already improved.
The price IS right!
Cheaper than a laptop.
Yes, more expensive than a Scriptor. But who would want to use a Scriptor to write?
Try it out at Staples sometime. You will see what I mean. It is ridiculous.
My Freewrite Traveler is exactly the PERFECT instrument for my writing.
My "unknown poet" days will soon be over.

I take it everywhere with me. Perfect for when inspiration hits! I really wish I had bought this sooner. So much more convenient than hauling around an iPad or laptop. I get so much more done because it forces me to stay focused. I also dont have as many tendencies to go back and revise previous written work.
The freewrite traveler is actually very fun to write with! I'm not sure if it's the keyboard, the screen, or the size? Maybe it's all! Whatever it is, it sure makes writing more fun! And I would already have fun! Can't wait to really have a sit down with my traveler.
