I love my Traveler. I admit that I have been used to writing AND editing simultaneously, so using the Traveler has required me to change up my process a bit. But it has been worth it! The Traveler really can go anywhere you need it to, and I much prefer pulling it out to jot down story ideas than having scraps of paper floating around. I've found synchronizing with Evernote to be really straightforward. Definitely happy with my purchase.

It is true - it forces you to write - in a very charming way

It has quickly become my prized possession. I take it with me everywhere and it amped up my creativity and productivity x1000! It took me a long time to take the plunge and make the purchase, but I have zero regrets. It is probably the best purchase I’ve ever made for myself.

I love writing on it. It comfortable on the hands and eyes. Getting my messy thoughts and ideas down and cleaning it up afterwards has helped write more and more.

I love, love, love my traveler! It's fairly simple to use after a brief glance at the instructions, it has incredible battery life, and I can switch between projects with simple click of a button. The only thing I wish it had was a backlight but otherwise, fantastic!

The Freewrite Hemingway Edition is stellar. Keyboard is high quality, comparable to Iqunix80. Charming bold green keys and stone-cold aluminum body are reminiscent of a typewriter. Writing on E-ink is a cathartic experience; zero eye strain. The overall quality, along with the attaché case, exceeded all my expectations. A genuine 5-star product

The device does a great job of keeping me focused. If I ever want to write or diary, I go straight to my freewrite. It has made writing less stressful and more fun to look forward to!

I surprised my wife, who is an author, with this gift for Christmas. The "traveler" has been referenced as the "best gift ever" on multiple occasions since. She loves it!!

I have been a Freewrite fanboy since I got the classic about a year ago.

It’s a digital typewriter - what could be so special? I still don’t know but for some reason my body just loves this thing. I ended up getting the Traveler too and I use that one just as much.

It’s just simple and gives you a wonderful experience for typing. I use mine for any kind of brainstorming, idea generation, drafting, or general data capture note taking.

If writing is in your future so should be the Freewrite!!

I’m sure my story is one that echoes countless others in these times: I started writing my first book in March 2020. I’d had an idea for a story for nearly a decade, having never worked up the courage or confidence to actually sit down and write it. So, when the pandemic hit, separated and isolated from anyone who might be the least bit judgmental towards me wanting to write, I finally found the time, read “On Writing” and “Bird by Bird”, and began. Like many of my rookie writing companions, I found myself constantly brought out of “the flow” of my writing sessions (few and far in between, as my first child had just been born in January) by a steady barrage of bright and shiny things. Facebook notifications, text messages, emails. I had the world at my fingertips with my MacBook Pro. But I didn’t need the world at my fingertips. I needed a keyboard and some caffiene. Luck would have it that during one of my many distracted browsing sessions (when I meant to have been writing), I stumbled across the video of the yet-to-be-released Freewrite Traveler. I watched one Youtube video, and I could think of nothing else. I bought it a few days later, waited patiently for its release, and when it arrived at my door, I flourished. From March 2020 to March 2021, in coffee shops near my office, an hour at a time on my lunch breaks, I did it. After a decade of wanting to, I finally did it. I finished my first draft. And I couldn’t have done it without the distraction free moments the Traveler provided me. I couldn’t edit. I couldn’t re-read. I couldn’t check notifications. I could only drink coffee and write. And whether what I produced is good or bad matters not to me. I finished it, because of the Freewrite. And it’s something I’ll cherish having done for the rest of my life. Now, as I go through editing my first, second, and third drafts, I find myself missing those sessions, and I can’t wait to get back to my Freewrite for book number two.

I've already written three novels on this beauty. I had the Traveler before but when I'm at home or have poor lighting this is my go-to. The backlit screen and just the overall feel of the keyboard is too notch. Plus this limited edition model really catches the eye. The only thing complaint that made me hesitate before diving into the Freewrite world was the slight delay between when you press the key and it appears on screen. Honestly, I got used to after my first thousand words or so and haven't looked back.

This thing is sexy.

It hadn’t occurred to me there wouldn’t be enough of a charge to use the Hemingwrite out of the box. But I started typing on it anyway, figuring I could charge it overnight and get the full experience in the morning. I wanted to see what the keys felt like under my fingertips.

It’s like mom’s IBM Selectric…

My mother owned one of the early Selectrics with the swappable type element (I still have one of the elements: the typewriter is long gone, as is her Royal). Typing on the Selectric was a fully tactile experience, just like the Hemingwrite. There’s even the same delay between keystrike and “imprint”, as I discovered the next morning after a full charge.

I guess I’m not sending this back. Or selling it on eBay.

I’ve been using my Hemingwrite for a solid day now, cranking out my newsletter and more distraction-free. A few times I put my hand on the bare aluminum case to remind myself I earned this damn thing. I plan to keep it and pass it on to some deserving soul many years from now.

There are things I’d change - a spellcheck function, for instance - but those who scoff at this tool haven’t spent enough time with one. They don’t “get” it.

I got it. And I’m glad I did.
